The Rainstorm In The Woods

The leafy branches prevent the cold drops of water from falling on my head. Soon the load grows too heavy for the leaves and the icy water falls onto my already soaked head. I shiver with the cold. The sky becomes an even darker gray as I hear thunder rumbling in the woods around me. My attention is attracted by the sound of objects flying around. Upon further examination I realize that people are throwing around small seedlings with spikes attached on them. They lay all around on the ground. The seedlings are hidden among the brown leaves and twigs that line the forest floor. The sky lights up with a flash of lightning. I sigh when I realize it will be a long time before we are on our way again.

Seraphina by Rachel Hartman

The kingdom of Goredd is inhabited by two primary creatures. Humans and dragons. Seraphina Dombegh is a young woman who has managed to get herself in between this ancient and recently healed division. Soon Prince Rufus is murdered and many people throughout the kingdom have a suspicion that the dragons murdered him. Seraphina must work hard to keep her own secret, protect the people around her, solve a mystery, and try to keep the castles events on track for she is the assistant music mistress. While she tries to balance all of that, something new comes into her life. Something that reminds her that she is truly not alone. Can she do it or will there be more deaths of important figures in the future? Overall Seraphina is a great tale that weaves an incredible world full of descriptive characters that you feel you know by the end of the book. Because of scary and romantic parts of the book I would recommend it to people over the age of eleven. If you are a fan of fantasy and adventure this is the book for you.

Wings: A Fairy Tale by E.D Baker

Tamisin Warner has always been different from everyone else. She has pointy ears like an elf and feels a calling to dance during full moon. She also remembers seeing strange creatures during Halloween several years earlier.  Tamisin attempts to lead a normal life until a boy named Jak comes to her school. What she doesn't know is that Jak is on a mission to find her. Soon two things happen that will change Tamisin's life forever. She grows wings and is taken over to the land of the fey. In this mysterious land she must keep the peace between the goblins and the fairy queen Titania. Can she do it or will a dark secret overwhelm her first? Wings is an interesting story that would interest fans of fantasy and fairy tale books. This book would be appropriate for anyone above ten years old. If you are looking for a great book that is a little bit of a happier read, Wings is the book for you.

To My Dearest Stepmother

This is an apology poem written from the perspective of Snow White to her evil stepmother.

Mirror, mirror
On the wall,
Who is the fairest of them all?
I am.

 Constantly raising up a storm,
Because your not the one.
Never a fault,
In my glistening face, white as snow.

Forgive me,
Being the fairest is so
Unexcruciatingly wonderful,

That I’m positive you would enjoy it.
